Quite to my surprise when I logged into my [tag]Google[/tag] Spreadsheets account today, I found it had changed to Google Docs and Speadsheets. A bit of reading solved the mystery. Google plans to announce the combination of its online word processing application Writely and Google Spreadsheets at the Office 2.0 Conference in San Francisco this week.
This application is a cool way to share documents between users in different geographies. No more emailing updates and worrying if you have the latest revision. Synch your desktop and laptop – no need! There is even a ‘save to PDF’ button. What? No need for Adobe Distiller? Also, integration with [tag]Gmail[/tag] is rumored to be in the works!
Google Docs and Speadsheets is currently in beta release, available for free, and open to new sign-ups for now.
